New electric Toyota SUV: So far, what do we know?
This new SUV concept will feature an upcoming electric SUV, which will kick off a rapidly expanded range of electric vehicles, at the Shanghai motor show next week. The model, as it has been unnamed, will be similar in dimensions to the Toyota RAV 4 (which is anticipated to be in operation in India soon), but it is set to have a new name as a dedicated Battery Electric Vehicle. Toyota says the SUV will be constructed at its Japanese dedicated zero Emissions Factory and has been adapted specifically for the European market.
The new e-TNGA-platform that Toyota has co-developed with Subaru will be the first of six BEVs planned. Toyota said earlier that the compact SUV that it is developing with Suzuki, a crossover, an extensive SUV, a sedan, and an MPV is all other models planned for the e-TNGA platform. Toyota also invests in battery solid-state research and says that in the first half of the 2020s it plans to launch a BEV “mass-produced” that will be using this transformative technology.
What are Toyota’s other electrical models expected?
In 2021, Toyota will also be launching BEV versions of its world-famous Proace and Proace City transporters in addition to the new electric SUV. The company is committed to offering a variety of electrifying models, including hybrid, hybrids, and hydrogen fuel cell models with the arrival of Toyota-based e TNGA-based models. By 2025, 5.5 million electric cars are to be sold annually.
