Cisco VPN Client is a straightforward software solution that enables you to establish connections between your computer and a Virtual Private Network (VPN) using a Cisco VPN device. Download Cisco VPN Client for Mac - Straightforward utility designed to enable its users to effortlessly establish connections between their Macs and a Virtual Private Network (VPN) using a Cisco VPN.

I set up my built in MAC VPN (Cisco IPSec) client, but it does not appear the client is getting my split tunnel details, it routes all traffic over VPN in the split tunnel list and any traffic that is not configured to go down the VPN tunnel appears to just get droped an it just does not pass that traffic out the local internet connection. On the MAC built in VPN (L2TP) configuration in advanced options, you see a check box for 'Send all traffic over VPN connection', but that option is not available in the MAC built in VPN (Cisco IPSec), would this check box be similar to the Cisco client, 'allow local lan access', that particular feature allows for split tunneling in the Cisco client. Nexus 2 expansion packs download. Is there a way for the built in VPN (Cisco IPSec) client to get the split tunnel rules? Thanks Multimarkdown composer.

I have not set up the Cisco VPN server end, but I have used a Cisco system from the Client end. I can therefore tell you often the IT department will have set policies in the Cisco VPN server to force all traffic to go via their system whether you as a user would prefer or not. This allows them to monitor and filter all the traffic.

Apple's own VPN server can be configured in a similar way, although I chose to allow non-work traffic to go via the users own connection.

Q: How do I uninstall Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client on Mac OS X?

Answer

If the application is still installed do this:

  1. From the Finder go to the Application folder.
  2. Look for the 'Cisco' folder and open the folder
  3. Then double click on 'Uninstall Anyconnect' start uninstall process
  4. Follow instructions to uninstall VPN program

Here's the procedure for manually uninstalling the AnyConnect client from a Mac OS X system.

As root, run the following shell script from the Terminal:
$ sudo /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh

You will be prompted for your password. Once you enter it, just follow the steps

If you still having trouble and/or the new Cisco Anyconnect installation complains that you have a version installed, follow these steps:

Enter these commands to clean out the old Cisco VPN kernel extension and reboot the system.

sudo -s
rm -rf /System/Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN
rm -rf /Library/StartupItems/CiscoVPN
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
rm -rf /Library/Extensions/CiscoVPN.kext
rm -rf /Library/Receipts/vpnclient-kext.pkg
rm -rf /Library/Receipts/vpnclient-startup.pkg
reboot

If you installed the Cisco VPN for Mac version 4.1.08005 package, enter these commands to delete the misplaced files. The deletion of these files will not affect your system, since applications do not use these misplaced files in their current location.
