I'm so fucking pissed right now that it isn't even funny. I want to rip Steam a new ass! This password shit is driving me in(fucking)sane! No matter what password I enter when creating an account, it always says 'The password you entered is not allowed. Please select a different password, with at least 8 characters.' What the fuck? Why do these fucking websites pull this goddamn shit?

I just read a post on steam forums where someone says that Steam doesn't clearly list all of the password requirements if you don't meet them. I would suggest you try including at least one capital and a number as well as meeting the 8 character limit.
Because it's the right thing to do.
Finally got it figured out, last night before going to bed. I was so enraged!
It can definitely be pretty irritating for sure.
Usually sites want 1 capital letter, one number. Some want a special character (such as @ or #).
It's done to make it harder for someone to brute-force hack your password, but it wouldn't really matter if the hacker got a list of passwords or got into the location where user passwords are stored (in some cases which in Yahoo's case get the password from some the pages' code).

That's probably international. Helps prevent hackers from brute forcing your account. Although, with 2-step verification it's probably not needed. Although, I imagine most people don't bother with 2-step verification unless they're forced to.
How is it a good idea to ask someone to make a password and not tell said person the requirements for making the password?
Your theory doesn't even make sense because someone just has to make a throwaway account to find out the requirements :P
As I found out, it is essential to actually type the password manually into the field. Copy/Paste is not allowed and leads to that error message!
steam is saying password is not allowed!!! i teried the 8 characters limit with 3 capital letters and everything , tried 56 times
before you let yourself get too pissed at the system, try a different browser. often times certain browsers and websites don't get along. I have at time had to use chrome, firefox, and internet explorer on a single website, switching back and forth between them because the page writers don't test out their pages on all platforms. On steam, specifically, I think I have found that it doesn't like chrome.
when creating an account the minimum requirements are:
8 Letters
1 capital letter
and most importantly
entering your password manually
it means that you don't copy/paste
it gives you the error
and finally you don't really need to put a special Character as ' ~ - ! # % : ect...
I hate it when I forget my password, and I have to change it, and then it won't let me change it back to what it was (and I was right the whole time it just wouldn't let me sign in) and it says you must use a password you haven't used before. Like what? I don't want to have to remember 20 different passwords.

I started switching over a lot of my passwords to passphrases a good while ago. My quality of life has increased exponentially.
I use my own unique unchanging ruleset that bases the password around whatever the site I'm trying to access is. That way I don't have to actually remember anything, I just apply the unchanging rules to regenerate the password. If I mess up somewhere then I'll change the password to what I think it should be.

I have the same issue. I have tried everything, capitals, special characters, numbers, all kinds of combos and nada. I can't get past this stage.
same here ill literally put in 20 plus characters capitals special cases numbers and lower case and all it does is say the phrase and im seriously pissed off rn
I highly recommend finding a good password manager. It'll cost you a couple dollars a month, and once you get used to it I think it's faster and more secure than anything else.
My personal favorite is 1password.

Steam Password Reset
Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of protection for your 1Password account. When turned on, a second factor will be required to sign in to your account on a new device, in addition to your Master Password and Secret Key.

Get an authenticator app
Before you can use two-factor authentication with your 1Password account, you’ll need to install an authenticator app on your mobile device:
Although 1Password can be used to store one-time passwords for other services where you use two-factor authentication, it’s important to use a different authenticator app to store the authentication codes for your 1Password account. Storing them in 1Password would be like putting the key to a safe inside the safe itself.
Set up two-factor authentication
To turn on two-factor authentication:
- Sign in to your account on 1Password.com.
- Click your name in the top right and choose My Profile.
- Click More Actions > Manage Two-Factor Authentication.
- Click Set Up App. You’ll see a square barcode (QR code).
To save a backup of your two-factor authentication code, write down the 16-character secret next to the QR code and store it somewhere safe, like with your passport and Emergency Kit.
- On your mobile device, open your authenticator app and use it to scan the QR code. After you scan the QR code, you’ll see a six-digit authentication code.
- On 1Password.com, click Next. Enter the six-digit authentication code, then click Confirm.
Your 1Password account is now protected by two-factor authentication. To continue using your account on other devices or to sign in to it on a new device, you’ll need to enter a six-digit authentication code from your authenticator app.
Tip
After you set up two-factor authentication, if you have a U2F security key, like YubiKey or Titan, you can use it as a second factor with your 1Password account.
View and manage authorized devices
To view your authorized devices, sign in to your account on 1Password.com. Then click your name in the top right and choose My Profile.
To manage an authorized device, clicknext to it. You’ll find these options:
- Deauthorize Device: Your account will be removed from the device.
- Require 2FA on Next Sign-in: Your account will remain on the device, but changes you make on other devices won’t appear until you reauthorize using a second factor.
Manage two-factor authentication for your team
With 1Password Business, you can manage two-factor authentication for your team if:
- you’re a team administrator or owner
- you belong to a group that has the “Manage Settings” permission
To manage two-factor authentication for your team, click Security in the sidebar and choose “Two-Factor Authentication”. Then you can:

- Allow security keys in addition to an authenticator app.
- Enforce two-factor authentication for everyone on your team.*
- Use Duo, a third-party option that’s automatically enforced.
- Turn off two-factor authentication completely.

If you lose access to your authenticator app
If you lose access to your authenticator app, you won’t be able to sign in to 1Password on new devices until you turn off two-factor authentication.
To turn off two-factor authentication, sign in to your account on 1Password.com in an authorized browser or unlock 1Password on an authorized device:

- Click your name in the top right and choose My Profile.
- Click More Actions > Manage Two-Factor Authentication.
- Click Turn Off Two-Factor Authentication, then enter your Master Password.

Windows
Choose Accounts and select your account, then click “Turn off two-factor authentication”.
If you don’t have access to an authorized browser or device, ask someone to recover your account.
If your team uses Duo
If your team uses Duo, you won’t see the option to turn on two-factor authentication because Duo is already providing multi-factor authentication for everyone on your team.

Make sure the date and time are set correctly on Mac , iOS , Windows , and Android .
